As I sit here and ponder the unbelievable fact that we all parted
ways nearly 40 years ago, it just doesn't seem possible, yet, it is.
Here in Utah we have a very popular book
that has become standard fare at graduation exercises. It is Oh,
The Places You'll Go by Dr.
Seuss. The book begins...
Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off to Great Places!
You're off and away.
It goes onto describe the wonderful life experiences awaiting, yet
also warns that there will be Bang-ups and Hang-ups and Slumps
and Bumps and getting mixed up. The wife of the late Dr. Seuss
called this, his last book, a summation of his own life. This book
speaks to anyone our age or thereabouts. We've been there, we've done
that. And, you know what's really cool is that in spite of gray hair
or no hair, wrinkles and extra pounds, we are STILL HERE. That
reminds me of another excellent book of the same name by Ram Dass.
It's all about embracing aging and changing. Can you tell I'm a book
person? My husband calls me "Book Woman".
Anyway, we are still here and that deserves to be celebrated by all
of us. The celebration begins on Saturday, April 5, 2008 in Long Beach,
California. I am so looking forward to seeing all of
you!
